CARA POWELL
ATTORNEY

Cara received her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in May 2017. As a law student extern of Three Rivers Legal Services, Cara assisted indigent clients with family law and housing issues. She also received the Estates and Trusts Certificate for her intensive coursework in that practice area. Cara was greatly involved in the community, providing hundreds of pro bono service hours which earned her awards from Levin College of Law as well as the Eighth Judicial Circuit.Cara attended the University of South Florida as an undergraduate. In May 2014, she graduated from South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in English Honors, with a concentration in Professional Writing, Rhetoric, and Technology.

While there, Cara was also working full-time as a paralegal to a local workers’ compensation defense attorney.

Cara had her first child, Chloe, in September 2015, while in her first year of law school. In December 2017, Cara had her second child, Asher, just a few months after taking the bar exam. Cara and her husband, Cody, spend much of their free time trying new restaurants, attending sporting events, and spending time with their children. Cara is an avid sports fan and is picking up golf as a new hobby. Cara enjoys volunteering in the community and is the Vice President of Community Engagement for the American Cancer Society’s Associate Board of Ambassadors. She is also a member of The Junior League Tampa Bay and The Tampa Gator Club.

Cara was trained in law school as a mediator and is a strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution. She is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Stann W. Givens Family Law Inn of Tampa.
